ELA Germany Family/Researchers Conference

Nearly 200 members gathered at the ELA Germany Family/Research Colloquium in Hannoversch Münden from November 8 to 10 2024. They were able to find out about the latest advances in leukodystrophy research and exchange views with other sufferers. Among the German leukodystrophy researchers were Dr. Bley and Dr. Koehler, members of ELA International’s Scientific Advisory Board.

More than 20 workshops and scientific presentations were offered, focusing on the day-to-day concerns of people with leukodystrophy. Steffi Dreha-Kulaczewski spoke about a new large-scale global study for PMD patients, in which German patients are also participating. AMN sufferers were particularly interested in the diet study, presented by Dr. Köhler. Architect Sabine Schmidt presented the possibilities of adapting a house for people with disabilities, a topic that was also much appreciated.

“This year, the hotel’s capacity was exceeded. We even had to relocate some participants to other hotels in the city. New members from all over Germany were particularly numerous, which always gives us great pleasure”, said Martin Büchler, Vice-Chairman of the ELA Board.
