HRH Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, one-day teacher for the ELA Dictation

On Thursday 15 October, Her Royal Highness Grand Duchess Maria Teresa visited the Gaston Thorn International School to set the very first ELA dictation in Luxembourg. This reflective exercise raises awareness of illness, disability and solidarity through an original text written by Laurent Mauvignier, winner of the 2025 Prix Goncourt.

Following a presentation on leukodystrophies and ELA’s missions by Guy Alba, and a personal testimony from Jean-Paul Friedrich, President of ELA Luxembourg, HRH Grand Duchess Maria Teresa reiterated her deep commitment to defending children and women who are victims of violence.

“I’m fortunate enough to be in a position that attracts attention. And that visibility must be used for something far more important than myself or the position I hold. It is the most challenging causes that need it most. The ELA cause is one such cause. So that’s why I’m here.”

We would like to extend our warmest thanks to the team at Gaston Thorn School for their hospitality, and to His Royal Highness for his time and kindness.
