It represents a powerful symbol for ELA, the kick-off of a wave of solidarity, the decisive passes that bring people together.

Zinédine Zidane un engagement du cœur !
Paris, Tuesday, June 12, 2018
The association ELA (Association Européenne contre les Leucodystrophies) and Baccarat unveiled an exceptional work in Paris: the crystal replica of Zinédine Zidane’s foot, produced in a limited series and offered in return for a donation to ELA.
A loyal ambassador who has been involved in ELA’s fight for 18 years, Zinédine Zidane himself lifted the veil on this creation, for which Baccarat mobilized the over two-hundred-year-old expertise of its most talented craftsmen, including a Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres and a Meilleur Ouvrier de France. Created from the imprint of Zinédine Zidane’s left foot, this work in crystal required perfectionist craftsmanship.
For Guy Alba, President of ELA International, this humanistic imprint symbolizes Zinédine Zidane’s visceral attachment to ELA’s fight against leukodystrophies, and offers a genuine message of hope to sufferers and their families. In exchange for a donation of at least 40,000 euros to ELA, the donor is offered this exceptional piece, graciously crafted by the prestigious Baccarat House for the benefit of ELA, to support leukodystrophy research and ELA’s international development.

Crystal Foot, major donors commit to ELA
On May 22, 2018, Maison Baccarat welcomed friends, sponsors, partners and members of Crystalfoot to a prestigious dinner.
Crystalfoot is a collection of crystal feet made from the footprints of exceptional soccer players. The first in this collection, graciously created by Baccarat, is that of Zinédine Zidane, emblematic patron of ELA.
Crystalfoot is also an international charity club dedicated to overcoming leukodystrophies. ELA International’s priority is to find a cure for these neurodegenerative diseases. To achieve this, ELA International must bring together as many patients as possible around the world, and find new resources, as human clinical trials are much more expensive than laboratory work.
The evening took place at Maison Baccarat, in the presence of Guy Alba, President of ELA International, François-Henri Pinault, Chairman and CEO of Kéring and member of the ELA International Advisory Board, Daniela Riccardi, President of Baccarat, Zinédine Zidane, honorary member of ELA, members of Club Crystalfoot, sponsors and friends of ELA, all gathered around Ewen, a young boy suffering from leukodystrophy, and his parents. Everyone was able to reaffirm their support for this wonderful project and for ELA’s fight to see research advance against these terrible diseases.
A great moment for ELA!
