Families of ELA Switzerland gathered thanks to Watches for ELA
From 8 to 10 August 2025, ELA Switzerland organised its family weekend in Charmey (Canton of Fribourg). This eagerly awaited event offered sick children and their families a restorative break, featuring tailored activities, moments of respite and warm interactions. This gathering was made possible thanks to the funds raised during the 2024 edition of the Watches for ELA auction.
On Saturday morning, the children explored the magic of sound during an inclusive music and rhythm workshop led by music teacher Marie-Francine Mauroux, whilst the parents took part in an information and discussion session on the support services offered by the association.
In the afternoon, around thirty Harley-Davidsons, including six trikes, took the children on some amazing rides. Thanks to the 484 Dzodzet motorcyclists’ association and the support of the Charmey fire brigade, this activity gave every child a real chance to get away from it all.
In the evening, a dinner-and-show hosted by the clown Gabidou added a festive touch, combining laughter and surprises.
On Sunday morning, families took part in a photo shoot with the talented photographer Sarah Carp, who sensitively captured the strength of family bonds and the smiles shared between them. Meanwhile, the children took part in a face-painting workshop. Whether butterflies, animals or superheroes, everyone was able to choose their favourite design.
This weekend has shown once again that kindness and mutual support are what make the ELA family so strong.
